Woah, no way. I DO have every Sears Catalog from '80 to '89. Though, I collected them for a different purpose.

This year, when we have our Christmas Article Contest, I plan to offer to the winner not only the whole set of Catalogs, but also the chance to choose ONE item from any of the catalogs that I will find and ship to them (if at all possible and within a reasonable price - like $500 or less or something).

I haven't said anything about this plan to anyone on the website. You guys are the first to know. Laughing

That is a SUPER SWEET deal! Are you doing Wishbooks and the Big Book catalogs for each year? That'll be a heavy shipment! Very Happy My head would explode at the possibility of picking any one thing in a Sears catalog, even under $500 the choices would be infinite! Amazingly good contest prize! (Sorry for all the exclamation points, but they're necessary.)

Since originally posting this topic I have collected many more books, and I am sorry that I haven't been around here to post promised pictures. Here is something to tide you over...

I've only collected the Wishbooks. Even so, it's still going to be a HEAVY box to ship. Hopefully there is a USPS flat rate box that can handle them all. We shall see.

Yeah, with regard to the prize, I tried to imagine something that would really make me personally super excited for, and that is what I came up with.

Obviously, there are some items in those catalogs that are going to be EXTRA difficult to locate, even on sites like Amazon, Ebay, Alibaba, etc. ... but I'm going to give it my best shot. If nothing else, the winner will be able to choose reserve selections.

Also, here are images of the set...

I can't say for certain, but from what I can tell... in 1987 Sears broke up the Wish Book into two books, the Christmas Catalog (for adults) and the Kids Wish Book (for kids). Is that the case? Do you know?

True. But that's still an incredibly generous offer! Cool And thanks for giving the forums here the heads-up on it first.
So what all do you have to do to win? Wink Smile

The only thing that anybody has ever had to do to win... write about your memories.

All our "articles" are member written, and from the heart. For giving others the chance to relive a bit of their childhood through another's memories, they, in return, receive "points" which can be used to purchase cool stuff in our Points Store... but they can also do so to possibly win a big prize on occasion. The Holidays are among the best times to have such contests. Smile

Yep, that is true. That's why the '87 book seems smaller than other years. Glad they only tried it for that season. Like you say, that will still be a heavy shipment. Shocked

Agreed. I think the winner of the contest has found what he wants... a Seiko watch with a voice recorder built in - the M516. The same watch Egon Spengler wears in Ghostbusters.

Finding one has been the issue though. One he thought had been found turned out to be a bust, as the seller did not want to go through Ebay for the sale. That's fishy.

Here is the watch, from the 1983 Wishbook:

Nice! I remember wanting a Pac-Man wrist watch but that Seiko watch is really cool.

Oh yeah- that is definitely a cool watch. Now the trick is finding a good working one for a good price. Smile Cool
