Are they better quality than the Mill Creek release?

I have the Mill Creek release, but as you're aware, an authoring fault cut off the last few minutes of Sunrise, Sunset.

Yes, I know that they have a replacement disc which corrected this, but alas, they only send them to customers on the North American continent, so, I couldn't get it.

I'm not sure, but I'm thinking the original BCI releases don't have that issue, so that's probably the best way to go. From what I can tell from online Amazon reviews, those sets seem to be better quality in any case. I personally don't have any issues with Mill Creek's level of quality (it works for me- I'm more concerned about the price point than anything)- but I know other animation fans who are more particular about the animation quality tend to prefer other releases that don't compress the episodes the way Mill Creek does.
And by the way, Bravestarr is one of my favorite '80s cartoons- I loved watching this as a child. Great show! Very Happy Cool

I'm not knocking Mill Creek Wink . I'm more interested in getting Sunset, Sunrise complete, with their authoring error cutting about 5 minutes off of the end.

The only degredation in quality, from what we've seen in any case, is blockiness around red coloured areas, where the black line is.

As a side note, when my dad was here, RIP, we spent months trying to figure out the name of the Bravestarr cartoon, remembering it well from the 80's, just not the name haha.

The original releases are definitely flawless and better quality than Mill Creeks release (as usual with anything mill creek related)

If you enjoy Bravestarr I highly recommend Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs (grab this dvd set now before the price sky-rockets, it just went OoP) also the Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers is a great series but unfortunately the dvd set is long OoP and fetches an unreasonable sum.

I've heard heard of Saber Rider but haven't really watched that. I did love watching Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers as a child- that one is an excellent cartoon! I feel like I've seen at least a few of the DVD volumes for sale on Amazon recently at decent prices though.

Looks like they know it is now OOP. 55 on Amazon.co.uk.

But, ordered from the link scroeffie posted. Looks legit, as it is the same cover, but I'll report back when it is delivered.

That was steep, but still combined cheaper than on Amazon.co.uk. Probably should have checked Amazon.com before ordering Embarassed .

EDIT: Would have saved at most 1 on Amazon.com.

Thanks. We are in our element, though have to cut short tonight, as Chicago Justice is on, then football all weekend, but there will be in between watchings.

Noticed though that the same as Mill Creeks is the blockiness where red meets a black line. But, as long as all the episodes are whole, there's no complaining from us.

Thats 100% real and wep's official site. Wep produced both Voltron and Saber (not sabre) Rider. You can get the Saber Rider set off of ebay for even cheaper. I got mine for about $14 shipped.

Also the German release is a different edit from the US version- it is more accurate to the original Japanese anime version "Bismarck"

Thats a problem with most animated series. Red and black doesnt mix well and on a VHS or home television recording from the 80s it will appear blurry. When remastering for a digital release it will remove the "fade" from the edges and appear blocky. Really nothing can be done about that for DVD releases.

Oh right. Thought it was a compression problem. Still not enough to not enjoy them.

And being from Blighty, we put the letters "re" Wink . Well, at least until the fake Americans here change things Wink .
