| Wickedly cool and sexy yet gory animated Sci-fi fantasy anthology inspired by a mature French comic book magazine features John Candy, Harold Ramis, and Eugene Levy. I remembered seeing this on TBS and taping it off when i was 11 back in 1993, i had a thing for Taarna since then.

| South Park did a good job with the tribute episode to Heavy Metal. I just re-watched it on Netflix Watch Now.

The fighter plane being gradually overtaken by the undead was my favorite sequence; beautifully chilling._________________

Anyone thinks this movie influenced "The Fifth Element"? same futuristic cab driver thing and all.
Did you think Taarna was hot? i mean she's a perfect beauty. I hear they are gonna make another Heavy Metal movie soon, that should be awesome.

did anyone see Heavy Metal 2000? it was made in Germany, and it had Billy Idol as one of the voice actors.
personally, i didnt like it, because it showed that female lead character beating the crap out of the villain, when HE had AUGMENTED aggression. also, the part where her sister was able to all of a sudden start being skillful with a sword, and chopping up those lizard warriors, like in a damn cuisinart? she was a freaking schoolteacher, for crying out loud. cmon, that is just unbelievable.

There is gonna be a new HM animated movie coming soon from directors David Fincher, Guillermo Del Toro, James Cameron, Rob Zombie, Gore Verbinski, Jack Black and Zack Sydner are gonna helm it. It will 11 stories with different animation like 2D, CGI, Clay Animation, stop motion animation, Japanese animation and more.
Anyone who liked HM should seek "Akira", "Urotsukidoji: Legend of the Overfiend", "The Fifth Element", "Blade Runner", "Ghost in The Shell", "Fire and Ice" and "Rock and Rule" including "Starchaser".

There is some rather direct connection between the two as Luc Besson who directed "The Fifth Element" was sued by Alejandro Jodoworsky (director of "El Topo") and Moebius (perhaps the most well known cartoonist for Heavy Metal) for ripping off their comic book "The Incal". They lost the lawsuit, but.....it seems obvious that Luc Besson was more than casually familiar with Moebius's work in both "The Incal" and in "Heavy Metal".

| Well that's because Fifth Element was inspired by HM magazine and Avatar was too influenced by HM magazine.
