I've spent the past 30 minutes reading old posts and seeing the most obscure descriptions of shows call to someone else's mind the cartoon in question, which is amazing because my description is pretty obscure and God knows I need help recalling the name to this one.
ok so what I do recall was that there was as usual in the 80s a giant robot piloted by some guy. the only major thing apart from that was that there was an old guy and a young girl back at base and either the young girl piloted or otherwise launched a set of wings out of the base which was in a mountain (i think) which would catch up to the robot and attach to the giant robot's back. maybe that made him fly or stronger or something. this has been tearing at me for over a decade. please help!

| I thought that might be it as well so I have been watching the series from the beginning and so far there are no wings. if it is mazinger or mazinkeiser do the wings show up later in the series or am I to continue my search? thanks for helping!
