Thought it would be fun to discuss some of your favorite episodes from the G1 cartoon. Smile

SOS Dinobots
Traitor
The Master Builder
The Golden Lagoon
The Secret of Omega Supreme
Triple Takeover

I always feel a little sad starting the episodes after the movie, esp with Rachet, Wheeljack etc, dying in the movie. Weird seeing Spike older as well.

Great thread idea Very Happy!

Even when Im not a big fan of Transformers, I still have a single VHS copy containing the very first episode of that cartoon, and I always thought it was pretty funny.

I haven't seen much more since, but maybe this thread is just what I need to start.

We could do a viewing club! I'm definitely gonna wanna rewatch all of G1...and for those that don't have the DVDs or other means, it is on Netflix as well! Smile

That would be terrific!

Looking forward to see how the idea evolves Smile

Any episode where the giant Megatron turns into a small enough pistol for Starscream to use. Shocked

I remember that Megatron toy- in later releases of Megatron, they changed him from transforming into a gun into transforming into a vehicle of some kind. Nowadays in the politically correct culture, you can't get a toy gun released like that (It apparently was pretty realistic-looking.) Not that I encourage gun use in any case, but still- it's a toy gun. You might as well outlaw the Nintendo Zapper too. Wink

Starscream's Brigade and Revenge of Bruticus are my favorites.

I was and still am a big fan of G.I. Joe and only in the last few years discovered the crossover episode Only Human with Cobra Commander.

lol- that is kinda insane. (on the Magnavox Odyssey Lightgun.) Wow.

And the article is pretty insane too.....

Thanks for the links.

And yeah- I should've mentioned earlier- back to the topic of the thread- I do like Transformers and remember watching it as a kid and playing with the toys and all. But I don't get into it as much anymore, honestly. I certainly wouldn't mind watching it even if I had the chance though. I have the 1986 Transformers: The Movie and I do love that.
As far as G1 episodes go, I would probably agree with thinice and say that "Only Human" is one of my all-time favorites because of the G.I. Joe crossover. Very Happy Cool
I've long been a big fan of G.I. Joe- though both are related through Hasbro's ownership and all- and both have had numerous crossovers in different media- so I do love both to some degree, but I am generally a bigger Joe fan than Transformers fan. But shows are cool, definitely. Cool

That Magnavox Odyssey Lightgun is great! The Odyssey 2 was my first system.

I grew up in the late 1970's and early 1980's. I think the first G.I. Joe Movie came out in 1982 or 1983. To young for the old G.I. Joe and just right for the Real American series. It made me a life long fan.

By the time Transformers came out, computers were starting to take over my life. So the cartoon was neat to watch.

The G.I. Joe Sunbow cartoon series started in 1983, shortly after the comic book series from Marvel launched in 1982. (And the toys came shortly after the comics, if I remember correctly.)
"G.I. Joe: The Movie" was released in 1987- great movie! Very Happy Cool
I have that and "Transformers: The Movie" (1986 animated movie) on video.

You got me there, MacGyver. Showing my age. I remember a Real American Hero and The Revenge of Cobra being shown as made for television movies. Probably more like a Sunday Afternoon movie. Then both were released as five part mini-series.

I started collecting the G.I. Joe comic when it came out.

Nah, that's cool, man. I believe you are right about the G.I. Joe mini-series/ TV-movies (whichever). "The M.A.S.S. Device" and "The Revenge of Cobra" were the two that preceded the series, I believe.
You may already be familiar with this site, but if you want to look up information on G.I. Joe, look no further than yojoe.com - that site is pretty comprehensive. Very Happy Cool

Thanks! I will check the site out.

Did not mean to derail.

I also really enjoyed the Dinobots.

It is funny how Hasbro made such a big deal out of certain characters and never expanded on them. The three that turned into a camera for example. Hasbro had a send away order form for Reflector. A few episodes were made and then the three are forgotten. I still have an order form after all these years. Not sure where it came from. But $10.00 dollars and 2 Robot Points and he is mine. Wait it expires September 30, 1987. Dang.

Haha- that's pretty cool you still have the order form. And yeah- conversations here get derailed every so often- as long as it's not too far off topic for too long- it's all good.
Back on topic to what was last mentioned- I always thought the Dinobots were pretty cool. And they are about the only reason I'm interested in seeing the 4th. Transformers movie. (I saw the first three live action movies in theaters- and sadly, I feel they got progressively worse as the series went along.) I didn't get around to seeing the fourth one in theaters, but I figured eventually I'll borrow it on DVD and watch it. Did anyone see it? What do you all think of it? What about the Dinobots' role in the movie- how well was that done?
Thanks for any feedback on that.

I watched the first live action movie and when Jazz was killed off that ruined the rest for me. I have never seen the fourth one either. The Dinobots looked really good from the previews.

Okay- thanks for the feedback. I will probably watch the fourth movie eventually when I can rent it or something... I believe a 5th. one is coming in 2016 too... Sad to say, but I'm kinda ready for this series to be done. I don't feel like they're really getting any better.
