I believe those Aussie sets have some altered intros- especially the season 7 and 8 set, but it's really not a big deal- having all the episodes make up for it. I only have the season 9 set, which is the only season I really care about and it's absolutely great!

Unfortunately, most but not all of the holiday and spring Smurf specials are in the ultimate sets and can only be bought in a separate set (according to Smurfs wiki on the box sets) however the Ultimate collections is the only way to get the "Johan and Peewit" shorts.

Thanks for the info on that- good to know. So does this mean that the Smurfs has been released to DVD in full in Region 4?......

Yes- Australia is the only country to release the complete series in English. Some seasons use the incorrect intro/outro (such as season 7 & 8 have the intro from season 1 and halfway through season 9 it switches from the correct intro to season 1 intro), however, the episodes themselves are complete. It's also available in full in France and Germany but in the respective languages only, no English. I'm unaware if the French or German set uses the correct intro/outro for each season.

I would like for them to make a Smurf movie like the cartoon. The first Smurf movie was ok, but it would have been better if they had just stayed in the village. There are so many characters and adventures that they can pursue. They can introduce live action versions of Yohan, PeeWee, the Princess, Baby Smurf, etc. There is so much room for diversity.
