Well, if you count TRON, you could, at least partly, count The Last Starfighter. All the video game screens and spaceships (and outer space scenes) were computer animated.

Many of the special effects were painted and animated (cg and cel). Granted, the motion of the film was carried by live acting, it was a great mix of new animation techniques, and skilled acting.

Not so much what was created in the '80s but what I discovered for the first time in the '80s....
Anything Ralph Bakshi, pre Studio Ghibli projects, The Hobbit by Rankin Bass, the original series of Johnny Quest, just to name a few. Also artists who may not have been animators, but drew some fantastic comic and cartoons!
Sorry for going slightly off topic |

I would have to say Thundercats: The Movie.
It brought back so many familiar characters and introduced new ones. All the main characters got something to do. I loved the 'one on one' fights, and the 'vehicle' battles. And Bernard Hoffer's fantastic music elevated the film.

'Nike Shoes for Women'. I don't remember that one... or any of the others, for that matter!
