Today marks the 29th. anniversary of the first airing of MacGyver- back on September 29, 1985- my all-time favorite TV series started airing and ran through May 21, 1992. (with two follow-up TV-movies airing in 1994.)
(Hence my user name and avatar picture.) Very Happy Cool
In honor of that, and because we for some reason don't seem to have a thread dedicated to the man who can disarm a bomb with a paperclip and always has a roll of duct tape handy to tie up bad guys- the guy who truly lived out the Boy Scouts' motto all the time ("Be prepared")- here is a tribute to MacGyver! Very Happy Cool

Here is the classic MacGyver theme song intro for all its 7 seasons.

And here's a totally awesome fanmade trailer for MacGyver, the legend!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thN-1mu7bX4&list=UUotA-fSfg-XyYAdi9s5812Q

As I have time, I'll post a few more videos that will showcase just how awesome this series is! (Okay- at least to me, anyway- lol. If you don't like it or it's not your favorite, that's okay too, of course.) Very Happy Cool

A Macgyver thread by Macgyver... my mind just blew up Razz

I have never watched this show before, but Macgyver is undeniably such a great program. The mere fact that its still being referenced by newer cartoons says a lot of its inner quality, and I really want to find the time to watch thru the entire series (because I know I wont be disappointed).

Nice thread, friend. Let's see how it evolves.

I definitely like this! Yes, MacGyver is certainly a great program and it continues to get referenced numerous times. (Both The Simpsons and The Family Guy have rather humorous mentions of MacGyver.)

Gracias, amigo! Yeah, everyone is welcome to chime in with any other memories of MacGyver. Very Happy Cool

Just to contribute something to thread: I believe that Mayor West mentioned that he attended the same High School with the lead actor Richard Dean Anderson (correct me If I am mistaken).

And for putting something of my own crop: I think we all have seen the episode of The Simpsons in which Richard Dean Anderson is kidnapped by Patty and Selma, and he managed to escape in a very MacGyver-like way. Pretty funny episode if you ask me (and has the plus that they portrayed the actor as being a little coo-coo Razz).

Now, I will keep an eye on you, Mac. I saw you were carrying a rubber band Laughing

MacGyver has been a long-running joke on The Simpsons way before this episode, but yes- Patty and Selma's obsession finally culminated with them kindapping Richard Dean Anderson. Laughing
RDA loves to do stuff like this where he can poke a little light-hearted and good-natured fun at MacGyver. Saturday Night Live also did a hilarious send-up with the MacGruber sketches. (Those are pretty funny for the most part- the movie is horrible! I have not seen it and don't intend to, but the trailer and reviews were bad enough to keep me away from it.)
I also recommend checking out the SuperBowl commercial RDA did in character as MacGyver from 2006, I think it was- and a 2012 commercial he did for the Citan, again in character as MacGyver. Those are way cool! Very Happy Cool

Woot! Woot! For our alma mater! Nice memory Ice! My mind is equally blown that it took nearly 4000 posts to get a tribute rolling. Shocked Laughing

This is all our Mac and RDA really need, a rubber band is just overkill!Laughing

Yeah, yeah- well, this is a 1980s cartoons site primarily- I have many fandoms, but I keep some at bay sometimes- lol. Laughing
But yes- I definitely needed to get a MacGyver thread going on here already. Smile Cool

Haha- I've seen that paperclip photoshop image before- nice. Very Happy Cool
The cover art backing though is from a real MacGyver action figure release that Glasslite, a Brazilian company, released in 1993. I've got it in my MacGyver collection. Very Happy Cool
