Hi everyone,

Since ownership and distribution rights a known fact, it shouldnít be so hard to find out what those companies intend to do or, when they intend to release some of the material they have.

The problem is that they do not disclose their plans.

News still to be announced.

I changed my post to News, Releases, and Updates in Other Cartoons Forum.

Do you have any ideas how to improve the chances of getting better information about new releases of old cartoons?

If you do, I hope that you post your ideas in this forum.

This website is for cartoons from the 80ís, but there are also forums for other periods. Therefore, my question is: If you see any new releases of the 70ís, would you post them even though they are not series from the 80ís?

Maybe, if the website would encourage members to discuss topics of series created before 1980, there will be more ample activity on the site.

Isn't that the point of this forum, being for other, non 80's cartoons?

Of course this is the forum for other cartoons. But, in my post I was trying to make a point, meaning, that this forum is like a patch. Because it's for cartoons earlier than the 80's, it's kind of falls in between, and there is not much going on in it.

Maybe it would be better if this website was only for the 80's as its name suggests, because the owner does not encourage development of this forum.

To be clear- this entire site is dedicated to cartoons from the 1980s. To be as generous as possible with that, that includes cartoons that stretch from a start date earlier than January 1, 1980 but concluded its run in the 1980s. It also includes cartoons that started their run in the 1980s and ran beyond December 31, 1989.
For instance, The All-New Popeye Hour, a cartoon block that ran from 1978-1981 is included. The Adventures of The Little Koala is also included and that ran from 1987-1993.
To reiterate, this site is dedicated, just as its name states, to '80s cartoons.
Thus, the primary focus is going to be on just that. I feel sure most members probably do enjoy cartoons from other time periods and they are indeed welcome to discuss them in this particular form created for that purpose- in the "Other Cartoons" forum.
However, since it's not the primary focus of the site, while discussion of other shows from other time periods is not discouraged, it's not going to be actively encouraged either. The primary focus remains 1980s cartoons.
All members are welcome to post as much as they want on other cartoons in this forum, but outside of rare cases where a non-80s show may have ties to '80s cartoons, there will not be any special promotion for this forum or any others that would be secondary from the main theme.
That said, I personally do enjoy some cartoons from the 1970s and other time periods and I do occasionally post news about DVD releases of some shows from other time periods when I see it and when it's a show I am really excited about and enjoy.
If you want a site and forum dedicated to the 1970s, you might try checking out this one.
Sorry, but I think that's the best the site would be able to do in order to stay true to its topic. A site and forum obviously has to have a primary theme and for this one it's 1980s cartoons. There is still room to have secondary themes, but it's important to recognize that they are technically off-topic conversations from the main topic and thus are not going to be encouraged so much, even though they are certainly allowed and welcomed.

Hi MacGyver,

I am well aware of everything that you mentioned in your new reply.
Nevertheless, there is a deference between having a mainstream subject (the 80's) and not encouraging subscribers to look into cartoons that are earlier than that. To my best knowledge, there is no distinctive line that cuts between the 80's and the 70's. On the contrary, many cartoons. started in the 70's and ran into the 80's. therefore, making such a sure distinction is, in my view somewhat artificial.

That's why I propose that any series that started in the 70's and continued into the 80's, should be dealt as a whole unit for the purpose of forums discussions; and thus, encourage such discussions for the good of this website.

The very fact that the 70's cartoons are more rare, made by older means, and not so much by computers, makes them more attractive to discuss.

Maybe, it is worthwhile to change/adapt a new policy in this regard.

As I just said in my previous post, cartoons that started their run in the 1970s and ended in the '80s are included on this site and discussion is actively encouraged for all 1980s cartoons. (And yes, shows that ran mostly in the '70s but ended their run in the '80s are still considered part of the '80s cartoons pantheon here.)
Members are free to discuss non-80s cartoons as much as they want in the "Other Cartoons" forum. Discussion on the forum in general is encouraged, but the primary focus is on 1980s cartoons- period. By the same token, the forum is also not actively promoting every single topic that comes up in the "General Chat" forum, even though there's a section for it.
As to site policies, I have no say regarding that as I am not the site owner. That would be a question best posed to Aurora.

Hi MacGyver,

I checked the site www.inthe70s.com that you suggested, but couldn't find material regarding cartoons of the 70's.

Thanks anyway for your consideration.

Have a nice weekend.

There are posts on the message board about 1970s cartoons. You have to join the forum and search from there, but there are some there.

Okay, I checked again on the website www.inthe00s.com and indeed, I found links to cartoons from the 70's. I will search the website thoroughly and if there is anything to report I will post it on the "Other Cartoons Forum"

If you see anywhere on the internet anything related to the ABC Weekend Specials Series, coming on DVD by the Walt Disney company, or The Little Wizards Series by Walt Disney,

Would you post them? On the Other Cartoons Forum?

That is because beside some episodes that appear randomly on youtube, there is no other information available.

In the meantime, I have found all six parts of the scruffy movie.

Here below are the links. Thereís also this link of End Credits for the Little Wizards that I found.

I tried to continue a discussion about the 14 old cartoon series from the 70ís and 80ís. My hope is that other people will find more interest in these old cartoons as I have. They maybe old, but they are still charming, because they were all made by hand, contrary to the digital cartoons of today. Usually, companies prepare marketing campaigns before any release. Maybe, weíll see some new developments before the end of this year, and there will be better information that will help post news if there are any.

Of course every one of us is happy when there is a release of renewed cartoon series/episodes that we like, especially if itís old.

Hopefully, they will renew some of the material they have.

Very Happy Smile

There are many sites that deal or discuss everything related to old cartoons nevertheless those sites do not use their influence to persuade production companies and writes holders to do something about the fact that so many beautiful old cartoons are not renewed and released.

Just talking about the past without doing something the present and the future, is like drinking soup with a fork. And this includes this website. Imagine the power that would be created if similar sites such as IMDB, Amazon, eBay, etc would push for more releases of old cartoons. Iím sure that companies like WD, 20th Century Fox, WB Archives, and others would listen.

Unfortunately, if old cartoons don't sell and make a profit, then companies won't bother releasing them, even if content wise, they are superior to what is in production now.
