Brain sucking bugs/moskitos - cartoon-movie from the 80s

Hi all, I am looking for a dark cartoon I watched in the 80s and that gave me nightmares actually...

It´s about a kid in a spaceship that lands on a planet that is contaminated with insects that suck brains...or was it blood?...from living things. In the end they actually suck out that little kid which gave me those nightmares.

I might be a bit wrong but maybe the story: kid / strange planet / bug (mosquito) that suck brains or blood ring a bell....

It is NOT Nausicaä, checked that one already. Someone got any ideas?

What may help is, is it Western animation or anime (Japanese-style)?
