Why isn't there a thread for this? Razz

This show is very random and nonsensical but admittedly funny. I used to love it.

I used to love it as well. The "Band Geeks" episode is always going to be held in a special place in my heart Smile

I used to watch Spongebob Squarepants a while back- haven't seen it in quite a while. But yeah- I think it's pretty hysterically funny in general. I agree about the "Band Geeks" episode- classic!

I also particularly like it because it contains a number of references to one of my favorite live action shows- Early Edition!
(Keep in mind that Spongebob first started on the air in 1999- and Early Edition ran from 1996-2000, so the timing was right for the references at that point.)
For those unfamiliar with the show, Early Edition was a show about a guy who gets tomorrow's newspaper today and he goes around trying to change the bad headlines and save people's lives and such. (Similar to Quantum Leap without the time travel aspect so much.)
Anyway- the main character is called Gary Hobson- much like Spongebob's snail is called Gary- who sleeps on a newspaper. (Gary most always has the "early edition" newspaper with him.) And in the third and fourth seasons of Early Edition, Gary had a bartender employed for him (Gary owned a bar) named Patrick, who was a bit dimwitted- much like Spongebob's friend Patrick.
Those are the main references I know of, though one could say that Mr. Krabs is quite gruffy like Detective Crumb is on Early Edition- and the name and size of the characters seem to be similar. (But that one might be a stretch.)
Anyway- there's some TV trivia for you. Smile Cool
