One of the most groundbreaking comics or graphic novels of all time just turned 30 this year. It with Denny o'Neil's Batman brought Batman back to the dark than his campy image.

This with Heavy Metal Magazine, Watchmen, Swamp Thing, V For Vendetta, Akira by Katsuhiro Otomo etc. proved comics weren't just kids stuff. This one was a satire on the 80s era itself with the punk culture with biting black humor and nice Ralph Steadman esque acid artwork.

It also turned Batman into a psychological character now and it's a character study with some action and all that. I read this 21 years ago when i was 13 and been one of my faves since.

Oh yeah- The Dark Knight Returns is a classic graphic novel! It definitely helped revitalize Batman into the dark and serious character he is known as now.
Great comic. Smile Hard to believe it's 30 now.
