Is there a TV series based on the movie or related to it?

Is it Peter Dickinson from "The Flight of Dragons"?

Correct!

Loved this title ever since I first saw it, and the explanation it gives for dragon flight and dragon fire. As for the animal bit...

Peter Dickinson, the guy on the right, human from Boston in the mid-'80s, gets taken back to the age of magic and accidentally merged with Gorbash, a dragon, by Carolinus, the old wizard on the left, putting Peter's mind into Gorbash's body.

The bit of dragon art on the back wall there is something from the original book, The Flight of Dragons, by the actual person, Peter Dickinson. The book unfortunately isn't a typical narrative or novel, just a collection of drawings and some thoughts on dragons and the science behind them, as well as lots of dragon facts from various cultures throughout history. It's definitely a great movie, though, and worth tracking down if you haven't seen it (just, be warned, the ending gets rather silly).

That's excellent! Another new one for me. I have The Dragon Lovers Guide to Pern and this sounds even better. I'll check out both the book and movie. Well done, MacGyver, and great choice, Fernin!

Cool. I feel like I've heard of this before, but never seen it- it took a bit of research to track down. The book itself sounds quite interesting, just for the historical and mythological aspects. I'm not real big on dragon-type movies and such otherwise, but this sounds like an interesting movie. Though I imagine it's happened other times too, about the only other movie/book I can think of where a male becomes a dragon for a time is C.S. Lewis' classic "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" (wherein Eustace is transformed into a dragon for a while before Aslan converts him back to a boy) in "The Chronicles of Narnia" series.
But anyway- yeah, nice choice. I will try to think of a challenging one next........

I, actually, have seen this movie but it has been YEARS! And, yes, the ending is something of a cop-out.
