Did the owners of the character go around solving Mysteries?

Hmm- this one is kind of tricky to answer. Yes, mysteries were sometimes solved. However, this was not always the main objective.

Disney?

No.

If you mean, "Was the character's first appearance in a movie?", then the answer is no.
If you are asking whether the character has been in a movie, then the answer is yes.

Is it Snowy, from the Adventures of Tintin?

If not, did the character originate in the U.S.?

The character did not originate in the USA- it originated in Belgium!
And yes, you're right, LepricahnsGold- it is Snowy, Tintin's faithful dog sidekick. Very Happy Cool

I grew up reading the comic books as a kid and love this series! Tintin has appeared in European live action and animated movies through the 1960s, long before Spielberg and Jackson put together their 2011 CGI film (which was quite good, by the way.)
Tintin also appeared in a late 1950s-1960s cartoon series and then again in a 1990s cartoon series (the latter of which was quite faithful to the comics [generally] and is quite awesome definitely.)
For anyone who is a fan of action and adventure and heroes like Indiana Jones, The Hardy Boys and MacGyver and James Bond, etc. - definitely check out Tintin. Very Happy Cool

Good job! Your turn.

(For extra credit, do you know the character's original French name? If I'd gone with that one, I think I might really have had everyone searching for a while. I wouldn't even know that one offhand so much except that I've come across it before in reading up on Tintin. Smile )

I used to watch TinTin. Though I was never a big fan. Have yet to see the 2011 movie.

My sister however is and was a die hard fan. We even had a Japanese Spitz (I know Tintin's dog was a fox terrier) when we were kids that she named Snowy after Snowy. I should have gotten that one.

Any way congratulations LepricahnsGold.

That was a tough one.
