I remember the cartoon maybe late 80's early 90's, having a group of kids numbering about 5. in one episode, maybe the first episode, the kids fake an alien invasion to trick a nerdy kid because he refused to believe in aliens from outer space.
the kids went all out making props and a fake alien ship. they even went as far as to make it look as if one of the girls had been turned into a puddle of grape jelly during the attack. They scared the daylights out of the kid, who was now a believer and afraid for his life.
at the end, the group revealed the deception, showed the boy the props, how they set up the whole jelly meltdown thing and had a big laugh. I can't remember much more than that.
i tried looking it up, couldn't find anything. I'm hoping someone remembers. if anyone can help with the name of the show i would very much appreciate it.

no, but thanks for trying.
the kids were young, like punky brewster young, i think. i'm thinking like the get-a-long gang only human. i don't think the show lasted very long. maybe a season, if that.
sorry it's so vague.
oh, and i believe one of the girls was wearing a purple sweater.

nope. used to love that show. This show was similar, in design, but not in content. does 'the caboose kids' sound like it might be it? someone suggested it a while back. i cant tell as i've never seen a picture or vid of that show.

You sure it wasn't actually an episode of the "It's Punky Brewster" cartoon itself?

yes, it is possible. but i don't think so. But it's been so long...i could be mixing shows or have imagined it altogether. there's just no telling....
