Looking for the name of an obscure mid-80s cartoon...

I'm trying to find the name of a Saturday morning cartoon that was on in the later half of the 80s, probably between 86-87.

In the first episode there were three or four real kids (not cartoons). Something happened to them and they were transported into a cartoon world where they were also cartoons. This transformation was also shown in during the opening of each episode.

They went to an underground world, I think it might have been in the sewers, that was populated by these small green non-humanoid creatures who became their friends. From what I remember, it was one of those Smurf rip-off, like The Snorks.

I think it was only on for one season and it was never very popular; that is, I never heard anyone discuss it anywhere else.

Does anyone remember this or do you know where I could find some 80s cartoon database.

Btw, kind of off-topic but remember the cereal commercials they played during Saturday morning cartoons? Did you ever notice that they were all exactly the same: Some cartoon character was trying to steal the cereal. Every one was like that. It's pretty funny/scary that that is what they figured out most appealed to the psyche of children.

I sooo remember that cartoon.. Mostly a pathway that was like a keyboard.

It's not that Kidd Video but the transition to the cartoon world and attempts to get back sounds just like it.

I'm sure the cartoon I am looking for borrowed heavily from it, as many movies/TV shows are basically rip-offs of something else that was popular from that time.

Underground + little green creatures reminds me a bit of The Secret World of Og, but there are no live-action segments in that miniseries, unless the topic creator has confused the two.
